Randolph Rec League Makes Varsity Debut
The Boys Varsity Basketball team fell short of beating Mendham on Tuesday night at home. Despite the outcome, the Rams have had a winning 12-6 season and are well poised to be strong contenders in the NJSIAA State Tournament. Randolph will host the first round next Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:00 PM. To add to the excitement, Girls Varsity Basketball will also host at Randolph on the same day starting at 5:00 PM. We wish our Rams the best of luck as they finish out the remainder of their seasons and enter into post season play. We hope that the fans will come out and support both teams at home.
Halftime at Tuesday's game was a special occasion as Randolph's 4th Grade Rec League took on visiting Mendham. The team features students from elementary schools across the district. Shongum Elementary student Jordan Dixon lead the Rams in the 7 - 2 victory scoring 5 points with both a two and three pointer in the contest.
Jordan loves to play sports and be around his teammates. "I've been playing basketball for six years. I really like it because I am good at it. I love scoring points and just having fun with my friends." Jordan really enjoys his experiences at Shongum Elementary and his teacher Ms. Giousios is quote "a really good teacher who cares. I really like being in her class." His favorite subject is math and in particular he enjoys working with division because it comes naturally to him. When he grows up, he would like to become a professional basketball or football player. He is excited for the rest of their season adding that they just won their last playoff game and that they'll be in the Semifinals on March 5th. When asked if he had anything else he wanted to share: "I just want to shout out my mom and dad. They are awesome and I love them."
Great job to both our Rams teams on Tuesday!
