Varsity Girls Basketball Charges Past Mount Olive Extending their Winning Streak to 11 -1 this Season
Randolph High School Girls Basketball continues to have a dominant season defeating Mount Olive 46 -21 on January 22nd. Junior Angeleen Mulero led the Rams with 12 points followed by Sophomore Sarah Bona chipping in 10. The Rams held the Marauders leading scorers to only 6 points each which has been a key factor in the team’s success all season long. The squad has continued to produce a stellar defense holding most opponents to 26 points or less. The Rams only loss this season was to Sparta on the 14th in what was a closely matched contest only trailing the Marauders by 5. The team will meet Sparta again on February 13th at RHS in what is sure to be a compelling battle.
Head Basketball Coach Peter Torres is excited by the team’s success thus far and is hopeful for a strong finish in both the county and state tournaments. “Right now we are 11-1 and obviously our staple has been our defense. That’s going to be what carries us. We still have some work to do with our offense, but we have great athletes who run the floor very well. If we continue to do what we are doing, we should have a high seed for the county tournament coming up and in the state tournament later this season.”
Great job Rams! We look forward to seeing your success play out over the rest of the season.
