Legendary Broadway & Tony Award Nominated Actor Christopher Sieber Visits with RHS Theater Students
It’s not every day that you get to meet a legendary Broadway performer at your high school. However, thanks to RHS Security Officer Jan Wright who had a personal connection, today was a special day for our theater students. Tony Award nominated actor Christopher Sieber visited with our theater students this afternoon to launch the spring musical Pippin rehearsal process. Christopher knows first-hand how to prepare students for the show as he performed in the original Broadway cast of Pippin at the Music Box Theater. In addition, Mr. Sieber was the original Lord Farquaad in Shrek the Musical. This was nostalgic for students as they performed the production last spring at RHS and were able to ask him questions about his experience performing in the show on Broadway.
Mr. Sieber has had starring roles in over a dozen Broadway productions dating back to 1997 where he got his big break in Triumph of Love. In addition to the shows mentioned, he has starred in Chicago, Beauty and the Beast, Spamalot, Matilda the Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Into the Woods. He just recently starred in another blockbuster production, the Prom, which has been picked up by Netflix for an adaptation. He will also be starring alongside two Broadway icons, Patti Lupone and Katrina Lenk, in the musical Company. The musical opens at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theater this spring.
The students were able to ask Mr. Sieber any question they wanted about his expansive career in musical theater and he gave great advice. One of his best takeaways was not to be afraid of failure because failure makes you stronger. From his perspective, it is through crashing and burning that you learn not to fail again and grow as a person. He also remarked on all of the jobs he had while he was trying to make it in the business and stressed the importance of striving to do something you love.
Thank you Mr. Wright and Mr. Burlas for your work to provide this amazing opportunity for students to have a live Q&A with Mr. Sieber. This will definitely be an experience that they will remember and cherish.
