With the Governor’s announcement that schools will remain closed for the duration of the 2019-2020 school year, the administration has decided on the feasibility of running summer camps. Unfortunately, the decision has been made to cancel Ram Camp for Summer 2020.
Several factors went into the decision to cancel Ram Camp at this time. As a district, we expect that social distancing guidelines will remain in place into the summer, and even if they are lifted, precautions will still need to be taken. Ram Camp is unique in that all grade levels go on various trips throughout the summer. Due to ongoing public health concerns, the determination was made that all trips must be cancelled to ensure the safety of all students and staff. The trips are an essential part of Ram Camp. The district’s view is that the measures that would need to be taken, and the risk of potential exposure throughout the summer, was too great and outweighed the desire to hold summer camp. The overarching theme to this decision is that our priority is, and will always be, the safety of our students and staff.
Since Ram Camp has been cancelled, refunds will be processed for all families within 7-10 days. Amounts paid by check may take longer due to longer processing time being needed. There is no action required on the part of any registered family. The district will automatically initiate refunds. Refunds will be processed back to the original credit card (or bank account for e-checks) used for payments, or via check for other payment methods. This process will be separate from the processing of refund checks for school trips and events.
To provide opportunities for the summer, the Community School has been working over the past few weeks to build online programming. More details will be released within the next few days and will be available for registration at rtnj.schoolcashonline.com. A subsequent email will be sent with program information.
