Standardized Testing

September 7, 2022

Randolph Families,

This is an update on testing that will be taking place in our school district.

We will again be administering NWEA’s Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Growth assessment this fall to district students. The assessments will also be given two other times this year. The MAP assessment is an adaptive achievement and growth test. Students in grades 2-8 (and some small populations at the high school) will be tested in math and reading this fall, winter, and spring. MAP assessments provide educators and administrators with important data about student performance.

We will also be administering the mandatory Start Strong Assessments this September. The Start Strong assessments are intentionally brief, designed to maximize instructional time, and quickly provide data to teachers and school leaders. No special preparation by students is needed to complete these assessments. Students in grades 4-10 will take the ELA assessment. Students in grades 4-8, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II will take the math assessment. Students in grades 6, 9, and 12 will take the Science assessment.

Additional information about these assessments, and others administered during the year, can be found on the district’s website in the attachment below. Specific test dates and additional information will be shared by individual schools prior to the different test administrations.
