Scheduling for Grade 7 in 2020-21

ALL students must request certain courses for the upcoming school year through the Genesis Parent Portal.  The portal will be open for selecting course requests from February 24 through March 2, 2020.   Instructions on how to make requests through the Parent Portal are attached below.

Parent/Guardians are reminded that they are selecting course requests for next year.  Every attempt is made to honor student requests. Student schedules will be finalized/posted for parent review during the summer.

Students requiring courses through our special services department will have their IEP mandated courses selected by their case manager.  A schedule of courses will be determined at the annual IEP conference.

Attention: Band, Chorus and/or Orchestra Students

Students in Band, Chorus and/or Orchestra in the current school year will simply be "promoted" to the next school year.  If a student no longer wishes to participate the child's school counselor must be notified.

    Next Year's Schedule:

For the coming school year your child will take courses for 7 periods.  The following six courses are requested for you:

    1. Language Arts 7 or LA 7 Honors - as recommended by your 6th grade teacher
    2. Pre-Algebra 7 or Pre-Algebra 7 Honors or Algebra 7 Honors - as recommended by your 6th grade teacher
    3. Social Studies 7 (requested for you)
    4. Science 7 (requested for you)
    5. Wellness 7 (requested for you)
    6. World Language 7 (requested for you by your current WL teacher)  **If your child currently does not have World Language, contact your child's current school counselor or case manager to select a World Language for next year.

    Parents Must Request:

Five (5) Cycle Courses (AKA Electives) which are a marking period in length.  That will allow for Genesis to best fill the student's schedule with an elective for each quarter (totaling four) without leaving any gaps. Course Descriptions are listed here. Please do NOT select more than five (5).

    Parents of Enrichment Students:

All students currently enrolled in Enrichment will continue in that program.  If you wish for your child to no longer participate in the Enrichment program, please contact your child's school counselor.

Students will receive recommendations from their current teachers and those recommendations will be visible during the on-line request process.  Parent/Guardians are strongly encouraged to follow these recommendations.

Questions/Concerns: Contact your child's Current Counselor.
